The product stays true to DJI’s reputation for making good equipment and includes a price tag similarly in line with what we’ve come to expect from the company. Though expensive, the Mavic 2 justifies its price by including a wide range of features, an impressive battery, and a remarkable camera that is fully capable of producing breathtaking results.

THE NUMBERS
Even at a glance the Mavic 2 impresses. The drone reaches top speeds of forty-four miles per hour and is able to fly for around thirty-one minutes without requiring a recharge (though this number is subject to change depending on wind conditions).
It also has the potential for an impressive memory. The onboard storage capacity supports eight gigabytes worth of photographs or video, but the system can accept storage cards with up to a 128 gigabytes.
CAMERA
The 20MB camera produces vivid images in full color. The camera is able to shoot video and images UHD 4K. The high-end camera is enhanced by several different modes of use that make it as easy as possible to take good pictures regardless of your skill level.
The Hasselblad camera (the same company that took some of the first photographs of the moon) includes an adjustable aperture range, the ability to shoot panoramic photographs, and a “hyperlight” mode that allows for crisp images in low light settings.
The camera also features object recognition sensors that allow you to lock in on specific targets including people, animals, or even vehicles. The drone then pilots itself, taking real-time images of the target.
The Mavic 2 is even able to track fast moving targets, such as cars or boats, with a single caveat—you can’t make use of obstacle avoidance sensors at high speeds.
This limits speed tracking to exclusively wide open areas—a small price to pay really for a drone that can track targets at speeds up to forty miles per hour.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The Mavic 2 Pro features several additional features that enhance the user experience. Trajectory Prediction algorithms are a relatively new inclusion, allowing the drone to automate flight plans while in tracking mode, even when it has lost sight of its targets. The predictive software is able to effectively intuit where the object will reappear when it is temporarily invisible.
Obstacle avoidance sensors, briefly referenced above, also sharply minimize the risk of damaging the hardware through piloting or AI errors. Using sensors that are mounted in several places on the Mavic, the drone is able to navigate the skies seamlessly with little chance of collision.
